Who am I?

Who am I? It's an interesting question that in my travels through the blogsphere seems to be asked all the time. There's an intriguing post from Brit in Lapland who talks about how she feels sometimes living in the far North and she feels like the "wallpaper"- talked about but not too.

My view is that, no matter where you live, whether it's where you grew up or miles away from your homeland, you will sometimes feel like you're undervalued or unappreciated. As long as you love the people around you and enjoy your interests and take pleasure in the small things in life, then you should be ok. You might question where you are and who you are? but never think that you're not the best you can be.

For the first time in my life, I think I am really comfortable with who I am right now. I have 3 beautiful children, who are thank God, all healthy. I have a new house with a garden right by the river that we own and by the time we want to move, we will make some money on.
I have a supportive husband who has only changed for the good in the past 12 years. I have an exciting career as teacher ahead of me and I am damn proud that I managed to get a place on the course when competition was so high.

Have the best of weekends and enjoy being YOU.

That just about sums up my St Patrick's day. Although I am not Irish, I have always enjoyed marking the occasion. But yesterday was the first time in aaagggeeess that I have actually gone out to celebrate it with a cheeky Guinness or two. Plymouth's only Irish pub was heaving with around 800 people.
It took 40 minutes for me and Danielle to get served, by which time we decided to order 3 drinks each,
The irish band Mad dog Mcrea were playing on the forecourt of the magistrates court.
But the craic, as they say, was good.
Hope you had a good St Patrick's day too!

MY NEW PROJECT

LITTLE THINGS GET ME EXCITED USUALLY..

I am very much a goal driven person and need things to keep my mind ticking over and working towards.

So I am very excited to have discovered today www.postcrossing.com

This is a brill but simple idea. You sign up and get 5 addresses from around the world
to send postcards to. You then get 5 postcards from around the world back in return.

Little miss Sophie has suddenly become very interested in different nationalities and being as she is in a totally white British primary school- I despair on ways to get her introduced to different cultures about from CBeebies.

So tomorrow we will send postcards to Martyn in Australia, Hai-cheng in Taiwan, Lynn in America, Helen in Germany and Anita in Holland.

I hope to get a whole "world" of postcards for the children to learn about different people.

I have to say that this whole project really appeals to me because I really want my children to grow up with sense that they are "global" citizens. True, they are half Brazilian so will never really identify with being wholly British but I long for them to embrace the idea that no matter where they travel in the world , they will always be able to make a friend.
Carlos and I spent 7 months travelling around Europe in a tent when we first met and we have made some fab friends through our travels.

I hope this postcard project will mean we make some too.

Ah..Tink

This little lady has been occupying the minds of little miss Sophie and miss Belle a lot recently. I am quite relieved they have chosen her as a role model...she has great values..the ability to fix things is wonderful plus her honesty and ability to make friends and break them while recognising the real friendships and concerns that she needs to keep close to her heart. God bless her.

What does worry me though is that master Dominic also has developed a love of Tink through his sisters. He also has a love of make-up , pink shoes and carrying handbags. At 19 months I feel he is a little too small to really care about shoving masculinity in his face. What I do now that his Brazilian dad longs for his little lad to play some football but the boy just isn't ready. At what age do we really start saying this is what you should be doing or should we let nature take its course?

What I am fearing is also the time when Master D decides Tink can not be tolerated and once cars or something. I love sitting down as a family watching a film but I fear the time will come when pixie dust will not win its way through D's heart.

In other news ..Dobby passed its MOT today without advisory's.
Plus my mum turned 60 today. They are sailing on the night boat to France and its so windy..shame !
